What is all this anyway?

Many years ago, sometimes too many to imagine, right before puberty made a mess of my life,  I learned the game of poker. And I learned it the right way - by watching older teens and men play cut throat games for nickels, dimes and quarters. I watched, I learned - and soon, I was old enough to lose my own money playing.

Of which I did plenty.

But as much as I had learned, one stunning event changed everything for me. One day, an older friend took me aside and gave me the sage advice that would guide me for the rest of my life.

What he told me was, 'bradley, at every poker table you will play at for the rest of your life, you will understand one immutable fact of nature - there is a sucker at that table. Once you shake hands, cash in for chips and begin to play,   look around the table carefully. You will come to understand that if you don't know who the sucker at the table is after just a few hands - it's you.'

From that moment on, I took it upon myself to learn as much as I could, so when I sat down at a table,  I knew the sucker wasn't going to be me.

In life, this lesson stretches across all categories, of people, in all walks of life.

Get this now and get it clear - every day, whether you like it or believe it, people play you for a sucker. It's not just you - depending on who's dealing the cards, it could be tens, hundreds, thousands or more who suffer the same fate.  Everyone THINKS  they have life wired - and that's when it's dangerous. It's delusional. You don't - and in truth, you're the pigeon, the pinata, the  one who just keeps getting played because you refuse to understand, you're playing THEIR game.

My job here is to get you out of the suckers chair, to see the con, to see what's being said isn't what's real, to understand the cards aren't the only thing not going your way - it's the game, and the fact that you're playing it wrong.

I learned the hard way, the expensive way, but I learned from people who had no intention of being  suckers.

I don't do newsletters or books. You don't have to sign up for anything. I'm doing what  the people I learned from did - I' passing important life lessons on. You can be 20, 50, older - you can still find yourself 'looking around the table', wondering who the sucker is, not realizing, it's you.

It's time to think. It's time to use that lump three feet above your......waist for more than just a weather vane. You were given brains - time to use them in a more productive way. This isn't a blog telling you WHAT to think or HOW to think. It's designed to give you something to THINK ABOUT. It doesn't get any easier than that. So the POV you will always be passionate and well detailed. But it will never, EVER tell you, you have to think a certain way.

See if all this doesn't trigger a strange and wonderful feeling. You're thinking again. That's how we roll.
