Pencils Down, Let's Review Week One
I'm bradley and it's my job to keep you from being the sucker at the table.
Just exactly what did you expect?
Week One of the National Football League's 2026 season is in the books and as usual, it always lives up to the unpredictability that is the reason we keep coming back week after week. So let's dig in
Surprise #1 - Da Bears. The most fun and entertaining team to watch in 2026 in going to be the Chicago Bears. I mean, they came out of the gate and hung a 50 burger out there to enjoy. When's the last time you heard of TWO NFL running backs both gaining over 100 yards in a game, and enjoying a combined four TDs? The NFL has done everything to make the game an offensive circus and Ben Johnson (Bears head coach) has become its poster boy. Can't wait to see how many points THESE GUYS can ring up week after week.
Surprise #2 - LA Rams and Denver Broncos. Yes, you can both have a seat in the 'Suck' section of the classroom this week. What a combined stinker both of these teams dropped against quality opponents. I mean, considering there is Super Bowl talk surrounding both teams, and both are well coached and loaded with talent, it's amazing that they both came out and well - what's the word I'm looking for - oh yeah - SUCKED. Granted, this is only week one and it doesn't mean the season is over - far from it. But you have to admit - if you watched either game, you kinda sat there and thought to yourself - WTF.
Surprise #3 - John Harbaugh. Again, it's just one week. But if you want to take a look at what a complete remodel looks like, take a good look at the 'G' men. They are pitifully thin when it comes to depth, but man, they have a lot of talent that was totally misused by the last tenant of the head coaching office. And watch Isaiah Lively just come alive and become Jaxson Dart's newest bestie. Lively was suffocated in Baltimore, splitting time with Mark Andrews, when he should've been front and center. And now he is. With Lively as an incredible new weapon for Dart, Malik Nabers is going to run wild. And the defense looks up to the task as well. If you had the Giants making the playoffs this year on your bingo card, congrats. You made an amazing call.
Surprise #4 - Da Raidahs. Look, I'm not saying get your Super Bowl tickets now. And Lord knows, Kirk Cousins is not going the be 'da man' there for long. But they have talent, with a capital T, and here comes another Kubiak to figure out how to get the most from it all. Again, don't know if they can crack the .500 mark when the race is finished, but man are they going to make life interesting for the rest of the AFC West. Don't be shocked if they pull off a W or two that makes life suck for late season contenders.
Like I said, this is all just week one. And I haven't even gotten to the numbnuts like Javonne Williams and Stefon Diggs who cost their team points and possibly wins this last week with their stupid, fifth grade antics only designed to bring attention to themselves. But this is what makes the NFL the single greatest sport we have.
Most of all, enjoy these first few weeks, The guys are fresh, mostly healthy and playing at a very high level. Once injuries and season wear and tear begin to rear their heads, the game changes. But for now, pop a cold one, grab some chili and settle in. The fun bunch is back in biz.
