This is the Greatest Column Ever Written

As to the boast that this is the greatest column ever written, the short answer is - it's not. Not ever close. But this is the way we talk today in sports. Everything is blown out of proportion. Hype, is the patron saint of sports reporting.
They all do it. They have to do it. The fans have to believe if they miss one event, they've missed something important. That keeps eyeballs on the channels and their sponsors.
What kind of bonehead crap is being spouted out there? Is there no one left with ANY integrity and perspective?
I just heard some talking head say Jalen Brunson could be the greatest Knick ever. You can get off the bus here - you don't belong on this ride.
So let's go to school rookies. I know you're all excited - it's been 27 years since a New York Knick team has had any relevance in sports. It's been 53 years between championships. Cub fans are shaking their heads - they get it.
I'm not an NBA guy- be lyin' if I said I've done more than watch highlights of this series. Not gonna bore you again with why I don't watch or follow. But I'm also a pure sports guy - it runs through my veins. So I appreciate when something spectacular takes place. And Game 4 - was just that.
But perspective is everything in my world - and I'm alive at a time when we've completely lost it. First, it was in life - now its infected sports. After one superb run, in which they won a game coming back from 29 down - which also means they almost gagged it at home - now all the talking heads are screaming about greatest this and greatest that and the best ever of all time.
Take a deep breath Knicks Nation.
Yes, the 29 point comeback is without doubt, one for the ages - the greatest single comeback in NBA championship history OR - the greatest single gag job. Ever. It all depends whose teams colors you rock. In any case, millions of New Yorkers will tell stories for years to come about how they were one of the 19,812 in the Garden to watch it unfold. Uh-huh.
But now I begin to hear about Jalen Brunson has become the greatest Knick ever and this team has become the best Knick team ever. You're smokin' some serious mother nature if you have the coconuts to say that.
The 1969-70 team that won the first New York championship featured five NBA Hall of Famers in their starting lineup. They played the L.A. Lakers, who boasted three Hall of Fame starters. Eight future Hall of Famers, in one championship series. Look to the 1972-1973 Knick team that won a second ring and add a sixth in Earl 'The Pearl' Monroe. And even though he didn't make it as a player, Phil Jackson was a member of both New York squads. Seven Hall of Famers.
And these Knicks? Are you going to tell me that the five guys who start for them right now are heading to the HOF? You're having a seizure if you do.
I will say again what I've repeated many times before. These current basketball players are the most athletically gifted to play the game. But the best EVER? Stop it - the current Knicks couldn't stay on the same court with the likes of Willis Reed, Walt Frazier, Dick Barnett, Earl, Bill Bradley and Dave DeBusshere. No brag, just fact.
I'm bradley and it's my job to keep you from being the sucker at the table.
